Sam Bissen made buying a car so easy and genuinely fun that I have recommended several friends to him. If you need to buy a car, get a Subaru and go to Sam. When I was buying a car, I had just been in a traumatic accident and totaled mine. It was an emergency I had not prepared for, so I hadn’t had the chance to do any research. But, Sam was so incredibly kind and helpful that the experience wound up being fun. He was so genuinely enthusiastic about the cars he was selling that he made comparing the various available models easy and interesting. He had complete respect for my price range, explained every warranty or add on clearly and simply, and triple checked that I had everything that I needed. I had literally signed the papers and was about to drive home when Sam realized he had forgotten to tell me a fun fact about the Impreza, and made sure I got an extra handshake for the pleasure of staying and listening. I’ve long despised the car buying experience, especially purchasing new🤮 So much so, it probably outweighs frugality as the primary factor influencing my tendency to hold off upgrading vehicles anytime shorter than a decade. A few months ago I reentered the game in preparation for the imminent handoff of my 180k mile 2011 Accord to my newly licensed teenager (still runs great 👍). I spent far too many hours researching, stringing out long AI Chat Chains, and hesitantly walking into dealerships and lots, vehemently clarifying I was only there for a test drive, and nothing else. I eventually found myself at Luther Bloomington Subaru, where I met Blake. I had make and model narrowed down to a couple options. Subaru Crosstrek was one of them, but frankly, at the time it was not my first choice. Blake was extremely knowledgeable about all of the options I was considering. He was patient and I’m thankful to him for the effort he made in objectively helping me sort through pros and cons of the various choices. I’m also thankful to Blake for remaining an endearing advocate and guide all the way through the entire process, negotiation, paperwork, financing, etc. I’m very happy with my new ride, and while I don’t expect to be back in the market anytime soon, when that day comes, I know exactly where I’m gonna go and who I’m gonna work with (so long as I’ll still have that opportunity because at that point he’ll likely be the Sales Manager, if he hasn’t already been promoted to GM). This was my first time here and was happy with the service. Went in with some major problems with my tranny not feeling very hopeful. It cost me over 6K but feel it was worth it. Could of been worse, was able to save 4K on a shot exhaust manifold because they found an extended warranty I didn’t know about. I live in Northfield and like to spend my time and money locally. Just was not happy that my local mechanic couldn’t figure it out sooner. I have a sealed transmission and I don’t think anyone was checking my fluid.

I’ve bought several Subaru’s from Bloomington Subaru because I love the car and my sales consultant. Brendan Krogstad is the best sales consultant so helpful never pressure simply the best.

Brian is the best sales associate at a dealership I’ve ever encountered. He’s honest, educated, professional and kind. And our new 2026 Subaru Hybrid Crosstrek? Absolutely the best vehicle ever.

He was consistent and when all of a sudden I started asking about a couple cars he was right there. Made it easy when I, all of a sudden, engaged again because my car died! I got confused after changing my warranty and contacted them several times over the past few years, and they were courteous and resolved my confusion. I can recommend both Subaru and this dealership (TBD on the American made ones).

He kept me notified when he'd be busy, and how long he'd be.( I didn't have a set appt.)
